Welcome aboard TBD!

I recently purchased a new-to-me Nautical 32 in Maryland! Stay tuned as the stories are TBD!

Why a Nauticat? Well, I’m no stranger to Nauticats, as I lived aboard a Nauticat 43 in Ventura, CA with my then wife and step daughter. The marriage didn’t last, but my love of Nauticats did. I wanted another one, albeit in a smaller size. The NC43 was a two bedroom, two bath floating condo on the water. It sailed like a dream, but the 45ft luff of a main took all my strength (or at least power tools) to hoist. Also, the 62ft of air draft and 6’3” water draft limited the ability to go many of the places I wanted to go.

Before the Nauticat, I owned a Westsail 32 – a real go anywhere boat. But I wanted the comfort and convenience of another Nauticat and the NC32 is the length and height of a Westsail but with the performance and features of the Nauticat 43 (albeit much smaller). Seemed like a perfect fit, so I flew to Maryland, had a look, made an offer, and am now the owner of a nice, cozy Nauticat 32.

Naming it was a challenge. Since I didn’t have a plan for anything other than “buy a Nauticat,” I couldn’t answer the multitude of questions about what I was going to do with it, so “To Be Determined” became the mantra!

So what am I doing? Where am I sailing to? TBD! How much work needs to be done? TBD! What are you going to name it? TBD! And there it is. A self-answering question and hence the name.

You can see TBD’s location at NoForeignLand.com.
